Managing Director of the BKVGE is Arnd Bauerkämper, Professor at the Department of History of the Freie Universität Berlin. He studied History and English at the Universities of Bielefeld, Oxford and Göttingen. Arnd Bauerkämper received his PhD at the University of Bielefeld in December 1989 and his venia legendi at the Freie Universität Berlin in June 2001. From 1993 to 2001, he had been a Research Fellow at the Zentrum für Zeithistorische Forschung (Potsdam). His major fields of research: History of fascism in Europe; twentiethcentury history of Germany and Britain, in particular the transformation of rural society, National Socialism and civil society.

Since December 2007, Nenad Stefanov occupies a position as research fellow at the BKVGE. He received his M.A. in East-European History, Slavic Studies and Philosphy at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universität Frankfurt am Main in 2000. He works in the field of South-Western European history in the 20th century.

Tatjana Tönsmeyer, PhD, is research fellow at the BKVGE since 2006. She has been a lecturer at the Philipps-Universität Marburg (1996-1998) and the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (1998-2003), and a fellow at the German Historical Institute London, the Institute for European History Mainz and the Institute of Czech History at Charles University Prague. In 2006, she received her PhD the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Her main research interest is comparative European cultural and social history, 19th and 20th century.

Nancy Wegner works as student assitant at the Berlin School for Comparative European History since October 2005. She studies History and African Studies at the Humboldt- Universität Berlin and Prehistoric Archaeology at the Freie Universität Berlin.
