Über den Autor
Mark Juergensmeyer, PhD,
ist Direktor der "Global and International Studies"
und Professor für Soziologie und "Religious Studies"
an der Universität von Kalifornien in Santa Barbara.
Er ist Experte auf den Gebieten Religiöse Gewalt, Konfiktbewältigung
und Süd-Asiatische Religion und Politik.
Er veröffentlichte bisher mehr als 200 Artikel und ein
dutzend Bücher. Er erhielt Forschungsstipendien vom Wilson
Center in Washington D.C., der Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation,
dem U.S. Institute of Peace und dem American Council of Learned
Societies.
Im Jahr 2003 erhielt er den angesehenen Grawemeyer Award für
seine Verdienste innerhalb der Religionsstudien, des weiteren
bekam er 2004 den Silver Award of the Queen Sofia Center for
the Study of Violence in Spain verliehen. Ebenfalls im Jahr
2004 erhielt er den Ehrendoktor der Lehigh University.
Seit den Ereignissen am 11.September ist er regelmäßiger
Kommentator in den Medien, v.a. CNN, NBC, CBS, BBC, NPR, Fox
News, ABC´s Politically Incorrect und in der CNBC's
Dennis Miller Show.
